C. R. Anand a resident of Mylapore passed away on Sept.6 He was 67 years.
Anand was born and brought up in Mylapore. He did his school at P. S. High School. After his PUC he joined State Bank of India.
He retired as the Deputy Manager from SBI.

The civic body has been laying storm water drains in the neighbourhood over the past few months.
In many parts, the projects have remained unfinished. One such place is Balakrishna Road in Ganeshpuram, Mylapore. This place is located behind Citi Centre.
Residents here say that across two months the entire stretch of this road has been dug up to lay the drains and it remains in this condition. Residents here say that they find it difficult to use the road, which is only a feet wide now.

Veenavaadhini, a classical music school based in Mandaveli, celebrated its fifth anniversary on July 15 at Arkay Convention Center Mylapore.
Veena artistes Jeyaraaj and Jaysri, founders of this organisation handle classes at which students are taught to play the veena.
The event began with a veena recital by Venkatramani, a student of Veenavaadhini.

In the 2011-2012 AISSCE examination conducted for grade 12 students, 21 students from P. S. Senior Sec. School, Mylapore have qualified for the Merit Scholarship given by Department of Science and Technology.
